(1)
After South Korea clinched a berth in the last 16 behind Group B leaders Argentina, the Taeguk Warriors will face unbeaten Uruguay on Saturday at the Port Elizabeth Stadium in Nelson Mandela Bay.
<-- “After South Korea clinched a berth in the last 16 behind Group B leaders Argentina” 이 부분의 해석이, 특히, in the last 16 behind Group B leaders Argentina 의 해석이 안 되네요.
(2)
Beginning their string of losses against South and Central American teams was at the 1986 tournament in Mexico where Argentina routed them 3-1 during the group stage.
(3)
At the 1994 tournament in the United States, unfancied Bolivia held the Koreans to a goalless stalemate.
(4)
Based on their head-to-head record, Uruguay clearly edges Korea with a record of three wins and one draw out of four meetings -- one of which was a group stage encounter at the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
If history has a tendency of repeating itself then the Koreans are very much in for a rude awakening as the squad does not have an envious record against Latin-American teams.
<-- 이 부분에선 “a rude awakening”이란 표현과 “an envious record”란 표현이 거슬리거나 어색해 보입니다.
(5)
Korea has traditionally struggled against a distinctly South American brand of football that places large emphasis on individual brilliance that can see seemingly impossible situations turn into goal scoring opportunities as well as devastating offense on the break, and pacy attacks down both flanks.
<-- 이 문장에서 “that can see seemingly impossible situations turn into goal scoring opportunities” 이 부분이 문법적으로 아주 어색하구요. ”as well as devastating offense on the break, and pacy attacks down both flanks” 부분은 어떤 의미인지 잘 모르겠네요.
(6)
Korea has fared better against European opposition that relies mostly on physical battles, team play, organization, and an ordered movement up and down the pitch that the faster Korean players have been able to exploit.
European opposition, 즉, opposition 이란 단어가 적당한 것 같지 않고 (그냥 teams라고 하면 될 것 같은데..) the faster Korean players have been able to exploit (보다 빠른 한국 선수들이 이용)할 수 있는 것이 무엇인지 명확하지 않거나 문장에 쓰인 대로 라면 내용이 안 맞습니다(어색합니다).
Four years later, Korea faced Uruguay in a game that saw the South Americans prevail 1-0.
If the Koreans prevail against a team on the ascent such as Uruguay, their quarterfinal opponent will be decided in the winner of the match between Group C leader and Group D runners-up.
<-- Four years later, Korea faced Uruguay and was defeated 0 to 1.
<-- If Korea beats Uruguay, she will advance to the quarterfinal, competing against the winner of the match between the winner of Group C and the runner-up of Group D.

1번에서 그렇다면 "in the last 16 behind Group B leader Argentina" 를 어떻게 해석 하실래요?
5번에서 “that can see seemingly impossible situations turn into goal scoring opportunities” 이 부분 해석이 어떻게 되는데요?5.

'10.6.23 11:37 PM (220.80.xxx.216)1. "clinched a berth in the last 16 behind Group B leaders Argentina" -> "B조 1위 아르헨티나에 이어 2위로 16강에 안착한..."
2. "Beginning their string of losses against South and Central American teams" -> 여기가 주어절이지만 The beginning of ~가 되어야 하고
3. unfancied : [ADJ] (esp of a sportsperson, team, etc) thought unlikely to win or succeed

Beginning 주어 그 뒤 was 동사...9.
Their string of losses ~ began at ~ 로 하든가, The beginning of their string of losses ~ was at ~ 로 하든가 하는 게 낫지 않나 싶네요.
3. unfancied는 그런 뜻("thought unlikely to win or succeed")이라면 해결되었습니다.
5번 문장은 individual brilliance that can see seemingly impossible situations into goal scoring opportunities 부분에서 see를 빼고 individual brilliance that can turn seemingly impossible situations into goal scoring opportunities로 하면 뜻이 통하네요.
10. translator

제가 갖고 있는 시사영어사간 The New World Dictionary (36만어 수록) 를 보니 2687 page에 <상상못한 (unimagined), 좋아하는 이 없는, 마음에 들지 않는(not liked)>으로 unfancied의 뜻이 나와 있네요.
그런데 "unfancied : [ADJ] (esp of a sportsperson, team, etc) thought unlikely to win or succeed" 이 뜻으로는 어디에 나와 있는 건가요?
1) clinched a berth in 16강--> clinched a berth to 16강 (이번 게임을 통해 앞으로 16강에 나설수 있게 된 거니깐요..)
2) losses against---> losses to가 맞아요..

clinched a berth in the last sixteen 문제 없고,
a loss to 가 쓰일때는,
His death was the greatest loss to all of us.
